Matt Dishong is a seasoned oil and gas attorney with a strong background in title examination, due diligence, and complex transactional work across numerous U.S. basins. Born and raised in southwestern Pennsylvania, Matt earned his B.S. in Biology from Allegheny College in 2010, where he lettered all four years as a pitcher for the Allegheny Gators baseball team. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013 and began his legal career focused on oil and gas matters in the Marcellus Shale region, including Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia.

After more than five years working in the Marcellus states, Matt expanded his practice to include the Permian Basin and other major producing regions. Now licensed in both Pennsylvania and New Mexico, he has worked extensively with clients in Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota, New Mexico, and Texas. Matt is adept at preparing drilling and division order title opinions, drafting curative documents, conducting large-scale due diligence, and evaluating asset risk for acquisitions and divestitures.

He has conducted hundreds of mineral and leasehold title examinations and regularly advises clients on curative issues, lease negotiations, regulatory compliance, and surface use. Matt has also contributed legal articles to industry publications, including the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation.

As a key member of the R. Reese & Associates team, Matt is known for his precision, collaborative mindset, and practical approach to solving complex legal problems in the energy space.

Outside the office, he enjoys watching sports and spending time outdoors exploring new places.
